“I am very unconventional when it comes to being a tea master, but there are qualities I retain that are very traditional in mastering tea. First, what is mastery? Mastery is the full command and understanding of a subject, outstanding skill; expertise. Mastery is practice not knowledge alone. As a tea master, I use my knowledge and passion for tea to actively promote and uphold the highest standards of quality and service to my audience. A traditional tea master is responsible for selecting premium quality teas, and he/she is the main influence on the integrity of the brand. I not only pick particular tea leaves, but I also create tea blends and menus for my clients. I have created menus for many restaurants and hotels such as The JW Marriott’s six.one.six, The Rugby Grille, Tribute restaurant, Toscana restaurant, Japengo restaurant, the Grand Wailea Maui, and The Grand hotel Mackinac.
